Home insurance, also commonly called hazard insurance or homeowners insurance, is the type of property insurance that covers private homes. It is an insurance policy that combines various personal insurance protections, which can include losses occurring to one’s home, its contents, loss of its use (additional living expenses), or loss of other personal possessions of the homeowner, as well as liability insurance for accidents that may happen at the home.

The home insurance policy is usually a term contract—a contract that is in effect for a fixed period of time. The payment the insured makes to the insurer is called the premium. The insured must pay the insurer the premium each term.

Happy 4th of July from Alaska!

On this Independence Day, I am so very proud of all those who have chosen to serve our great nation and I honor their selflessness and the sacrifices of their families, too.

If I may, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours and share my thoughts with you.

First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaska’s best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two – and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities.

For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. We have accomplished so much and there’s much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier – I’ve never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments.

The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the “politics of personal destruction”. How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it’s about country. And though it’s honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because it’s right for all, including your family.

I shared with you yesterday my heartfelt and candid reasons for this change; I’ve never thought I needed a title before one’s name to forge progress in America. I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness!

PLDT DSL Getting Worst?

A lot of PLDT DSL Subscribers are complaining of the slow services that the company offers. That includes our subscription. It’s been 5 days and the intermittent connection of our PLDT DSL wasn’t able to repair. Just only today since Saturday huh! We are complaining of the connection (not actually intermittent connection). We’ve been calling the PLDT 173 Hotline several times and they would promise to send the feedback as soon as the technical department receive the complaint.

Sunday, PLDT technicians came to fix the problem and no one’s available except the housekeepers. They left the house and said it’s fixed already. Sunday night, Monday until this afternoon (Wednesday) the connection still failed and no technicians came. I called the the Hotline again to report the problem.

We decided to call the main branch near the area and we called first the PLDT 187 to know the number. We are asking the direct number of their office in our area and to our surprised, the operator said they don’t know the number. I insisted why the hell they don’t know the number since they are in the same company!

As of this writing, our connection is getting better, but we are now thinking to stop our subscription with PLDT.

How to Burn DVD Video in Nero?

First launch Nero Vision by clicking Start -> Programs -> Nero 7 (Premium) -> Photo and Video -> Nero Vision or, if you’re using the classic Start menu, click Start -> Programs -> Nero 7 (Premium) -> Photo and Video -> Nero Vision.

Next click where the green arrow as shown below;

Setting video configuration is an optional step and your DVD will still work without changing anything in the configuration setting. In case you want to change the configuration, click the “More” button and “Video Options”.

By clicking the “DVD Video” tab will determine the quality of your video. The “Fast Encoding” tab is the default, but it can result to poor quality of the video.

Quality setting is best only if you know how to use the setting, but best not to change if you don’t know anything about it.

When adding your video file, go back to the main window. Click “Add Video Files” button and open the file you want to burn.

When you open your file, it will look like this;

Next click “burn to” button. It will take a while and you’re done!

NBA playoffs disappear from TV in China

NBA playoff games have mysteriously disappeared from Chinese television.

Entertainment programs on Chinese television were suspended last week during a three-day period of mourning for victims of the deadly Sichuan earthquake, including NBA playoff games.

When the mourning period ended, the NBA playoffs returned as the state-run national broadcaster CCTV showed the Western Conference final between the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs. However, subsequent games have not been shown.

“We have followed orders and stopped the NBA broadcast,” Jiang Heping, director for CCTV’s sport channel, said in Wednesday editions of the Shanghai-based Oriental Sports Daily. “Since the May 12 earthquake, we’re careful about the way we broadcast the NBA and the content must match the whole atmosphere.”

However, concerns about sports programming following the earthquake did not prevent CCTV’s sports channel from showing women’s soccer and highlights of track, women’s basketball and French Open tennis.

The NBA’s office in China offered only a brief statement from NBA China’s chief executive officer Tim Chen.

“We are working closely with CCTV to ensure that NBA games and content are appropriate for China and to begin broadcasting as soon as possible,” Chen said.

Michael Bass, NBA senior vice president of marketing communication, said Wednesday the NBA has not been given any indication that games were pulled for any political reason.

“Our programming has been pre-empted in consideration of the tenor in China following the Sichuan earthquake,” Bass said.

NBA basketball is popular in China, although interest has dropped off without the top two Chinese players—Yao Ming and Yi Jianlian—in the playoffs. The injured Yao plays for the Houston Rockets and Yi plays for the Milwaukee Bucks.
