Electrical contractor Erik Gates owned and operated Gateco Electric was killed. According to reports, Erik Gates was walking across the roof of 2101 Corporate Center Drive in Newbury Park when he suddenly fell. He fell through a skylight on the building and died of blunt force injuries to the chest. He was lucid and talking at the scene immediately after the fall, but died later at the hospital.
Erik Gates appeared on a few episodes of the popular Discovery Channel TV show, “Mythbusters”. Gates is survived by his wife, Beth, two daughters, Jessica and Ashley, and son David. He was 47 years old.
