Have you seen the video that shows how if you point a few cell phones at popcorn kernels and dial them all at once they’ll pop? Sorry, but it is definitely not true. Turns out it was a viral marketing scheme for bluetooth headsets made by the company Cardo Systems.
The video shows a group of people pointing their cell phones at a quartet of popcorn kernels. When all the phones begin to ring simultaneously, the kernels explode into popped popcorn.
According to urbanlegends.about.com – Trickery there must be, however, because, as a simple matter of logic, if your cell phone emits enough electromagnetic energy to pop popcorn, it should also make your head explode.
Now Cardo System’s coming clean, worried about the panicked response some viewers have had to the video.
In a statement the company says, The ‘cell phone and popcorn popping campaign’ is completely untrue and a joke. It has been seen by over 4.1 million users already and has become a sort of global urban legend as it continues to be tried throughout the world.

Galing! That’s a great marketing campaign.
I think they used a string to pull up the kernels and dropped the popped corn simultaneously.

Alot of people may have thought it was true since there is always news stories about the radiation of cell phones. But all they did was put a small heater underneath the portion of the table the kernels was at and it was powerful enough to make the kernels pop. There was even a special on cnn about it a few days ago.
