HP Pavillion DV9000 Problems

I’ve been using HP Pavillion DV9000 Widescreen laptop for over a year now and i am still confused with the problems i experienced for that period of time.

Over the past year, i’ve encountered 2 major problems with HP Pavillion DV9000. First, the top cover cracked and i don’t know the main cause of the problem. HP service center changed the whole top cover even the built-in webcam as well as the screen. After a month, it looks new again.

Lately another problem occurs, the window screen’s not showing even the power button was obviously on. The service center checked it and said, motherboard’s the problem. I asked them the overall cost of repair, they told me around Php 30,000.00 or $715.00!

I pulled out the unit from them since the cost of repair was like buying a brand new laptop! I suspect the main problem was the laptop’s memory, but i am uncertain. So i consulted another repair service in Glorieta, Makati and they knew the problem was part of the video card. Guess how much i paid for the repair? it’s only Php 2,500.00 or $60.00.

One thing i am sure about HP Pavillion DV9000 laptops, they overheat!

    I think I have the same problem with the video card you were having. Do you know what they did to fix it? Were they able to change the video card without changing the motherboard?

    Hi Debora. Honestly they didn’t change it. They only fixed it. After a month the same problem again. Sorry but i don’t have any idea with regards to fixing it.

    I had my hp laptop dv9000z repaired under the hp warranty enhancement program and after only 4 months, it won’t start up. I’m sending the laptop again to hp. This 9000 series model is the subject of this enhancement program, so if you own one of them, hp will repair it free of charge. I bought mine for almost $1000.00, including tax.

    Hi Arnie. Mine is more than a year old. It’s not under warranty anymore so i sent it to the shop where i bought it.

    Hello,

    HP gives a two-year warranty enhancement program, so even if you bought this model more than a year ago, it is still covered by this warranty. I was just informed by HP that they will repair mine free of charge. Just contact HP for more information.
