Internet based-companies being so inexpensive, simple and easy to build, it looks like a new website is born every few minutes. Here’s the few tips when selecting a Web Business 2.0 name:
MISS - Make It Short and Simple. How many websites you remember with a short URL? For instance CNN.com - a very short and unique name that people can remember. In short, the length of your URL should be at least in minimum.
Avoid using special characters like hyphens or dashes. Hyphens in domain names are difficult to remember. How can you say it to somebody’s asking your URL? Think of it. It’s sometimes awkward.
Choose a .com instead of .net, .biz, .info etc. - Dot com is more convenient and popular among other names, but does not mean that you can’t find a good name for your company.
Make it significant or meaningful. We know common domain names are hard to find nowadays, but there is a way to do it. A combination of descriptive name plus a common name may result a good name for your company. Be sure that the descriptive name you use gives a fair idea with your company.
