I searched around the web on how to improve Alexa Ranking and found out it is not determined by complex algorithms or back links like in the case of Google Page Rank. If you are worried about your Alexa Ranking then you must try these few tips to improve it.
By the way, let us know first what is Alexa? Alexa.com is an extension or subsidiary of Amazon.com and a website that provides information on website’s traffic level. Alexa Rank is a ranking system that base its ranking on the level of traffic each website receives from the number of people who visit with the Alexa toolbar installed.
According to Alexa.com;
The traffic rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach). As a first step, Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis.
The main Alexa traffic rank is based on the geometric mean of these two quantities averaged over time (so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users)
Means, (1) the more people with Alexa Toolbar installed in their computer, the more visits will be counted and you will get higher ranking in return. If i were you, Download Alexa Toolbar as well as instruct your friends to install it too. When installed, try surfing your own site and set your site as homepage. (2) Download Alexa Rank Widget and place it on your site.
(3) Write articles on how to improve Alexa Ranking and create “Alexa” in one of your categories. (4) Promote your content to social bookmarking sites like Digg and Stumbleupon. (5) Participate to webmasters forum.
I have tried 2 tips mentioned above. Notice that all my blogs are using the Alexa Rank Widget -it really improved my rank about 25% and i installed Alexa Ranking Toolbar too.
Try it and see the difference in a week or two.
