Do you know how to compare between DSL and Dial-up connection? This article will give you some important points about their strengths and weaknesses.

First let’s talk about their strengths.

DSL - of course we know how fast DSL is compared to Dial-up, but do you know that Dial-up is stable and is a proven technology? Other strengths of DSL are as follows;

- it has more bandwidth and has faster downloading speed.
- you are always online.
- it has fixed monthly cost and no worries to telephone charges as well.

While Dial-up - no worries on monthly bills especially if not used. It has lower security risk. It’s performance is best for light activities like checking emails.

Their weaknesses. DSL - has higher cost for most occasional internet users. The service is not readily available to other customers. While with Dial-up, possible for high telephone bills. Has a very slow speed connection and takes longer for large files to download.

A lot of people still prefer DSL rather than Dial-up just like me. It’s more convenient and saves a lot and lots of time. You can get cable Internet access through leading providers like Cox, Comcast, Charter and Road Runner now.
